I was lucky enough to go back to Northumberland for New Year. Summer 2018, I fell in love with Beadnell as it became a rich resource of photography and inspiration for my Ebb & Flow project that resulted in the coursework for my final year degree project. It was fantastic to have the opportunity to refresh my memory of the fantastic places I visited and just have a lovely chill-out week with Brett, Ziggy and Marley.

One of my favourite images from July 2018 at Lindesfarne
showing the wear and decay of the fishermans huts.

The result was a beautiful textural display in felt and accompanying photo wall. But I feel I have unfinished business here. I had so many textures and patterns to last me a lifetime in art.

We had a fortunate week of weather, we were blessed with sunrises and sunsets, each day different, we walked miles across Beadnell Bay and neighbouring beaches. And of course had to revisit Holy Isle.

I could not believe how much more decayed
the huts had become in just 18 months.

My first task will be to sort through my photos – I took over 1500, and yes some are doggy pics, but about 50% are sunsets, then there are textures, dolphins (yes we saw dolphins in the bay), and the usual holiday snaps.

Only then I hope to put pencil to paper and start a mark making process before thinking about textile elements – of course I may get distracted along the way – hope you’ll join me for the journey but in the meantime I’ll leave you with a few holiday pics.

Let me know where to start!
