No its not a rude question. This time last week I was at an event listenning to a great speaker, a marketing expert talking about gorilla or monkey marketing. For those not familiar with gorilla marketing its just about making sure that your marketing stands out even if at times it might be a little in your face.
It’s made me think this week about how we can apply this to ourselves. Not just in marketing campaigns but in what we do, say and our overall image. Personal impact is so important. I attend so many meetings where the men are wearing black or grey suits and the women although in some beautiful outfits, opt for black, grey or navy because its safe. Add to this this we introduce ourselves in the same way, e.g. hi I’m a coach. Its easy to blend.
I’m not suggesting you go out and buy a rainbow tie or cerise top – unless of course you want to – simply consider whether you could accessorize or add a colour to your existing outfit.
I try to wear a colour, teal is a particular favourite, as more muted colours suit me better than brights and I present what I do in a different way to.
I help people climb mountains – those of you who have been reading my blog for a while will know that’s real ones as well as metaphorical ones.
So what are you going to change this week to help you become a monkey? Let me know – even better send me a photo.
