Close up stitch

Last time I wrote, we’d only been in lockdown for about a week. Funny how quickly all that time disappears. I had so many plans of the stuff I was going to tackle.

I did however decide to work on a project I saw on instagram via @alicekettle, a textile artist that works on a lot of community projects. I visited her Thread Bearing Witness exhibition last year at Manchester and followed her ever since.

She is currently running a community project called Stitch12stitches and I’ve decided to take part. I figured It would be good to have something to focus on during this time and its encouraged me to pick up my embroidery silks again (see The Silken Strands of Stitch) and I’m really enjoying it.

Time is important to me so I love the quote from K Bromberg. And as it feel so prevalent right now – I’ve used this as the focus. I hand drew the flowers, it’s a technique I’m practicing at the moment to increase my drawing skills – just a little every day – and it’s working.

I’ve also taken the time to revisit my small online shop, where there are now current examples of my silver jewellery and you can also buy packs of cards, created either from my photography or printed from my stitched work.
