Productivity can be a bit of a sticking point for a lot of people.  Sometimes the longer we have the more time a task takes, conversely when we’re really squeezed for time it’s amazing how much we can get done in just a half hour.

That’s why I was really taken with an article I read this week by Farnham Street on businessinsider.com.

Farnham Street talks about avoiding a build up of tasks by dealing with anything that takes less than 2 minutes to do immediately.  It’s so simple.

I know from my own experience that I probably take 2 minutes everyday transferring lots of small items to a fresh to do list, yet it may be that it’s  a few days before i get around to doing them.  I wonder how much time is wasted in recreating my to do list and thinking about the task each day.  How much better to simply get rid of the task?

There are lots of other ideas too, so you can read the full piece here

I’m going to spend the first 10 minutes of everyday clearing some of my outstanding 2 minute tasks and deal with any new 2 minute tasks as they come in.
