“Time is precious, waste it wisely” – such simple words painted on the side of a narrow boat that I wandered past on my early morning dog stroll this week. Quite apt, where else can you waste time at such a slow unadulterated pace.
I’m adding this to my ever growing list of quotes. No one seems to be credited for it, but I’d like to shake their hand.
Those who choose to waste time gliding on a narrow boat probably do so to take time out of their busy schedules, relax and recuperate in open countryside – it seems like great therapy to me.
Yet, time wasting is something that society suggests we shouldn’t do. God forgive us if we waste a single second when we could be rushing around working, shopping, entertaining. So here are my 3 reasons exactly why you should waste time.
- Slowing down our pace, gives us more time to think, be creative, come up with the ideas our businesses need.
- Life in the fast lane can be stressful. Creating a bit of me time leads for a more balanced, fulfilled life.
- Do we really consider doing what we WANT to do rather than feel we have to do, a waste of time? What is actually wrong with sitting down and doing absolutely nothing occasionally?
So next time you feel like you’re time wasting, stop and think whether what you’re doing is really what you want to do. Its only a waste of time if you don’t want to do it.
