In 2006 I produced these collograph prints as part of my first assessed project for my degree. Listen to my head and they’re not my best work, but from the heart I love them. They were the realisation that I could be a proper artist and produce work to exhibit alongside other artists.

They typify the elements that I always bring to my work, a love of nature, a close up view of the texture, pattern and colour of my surroundings.

I still have these 3 framed pieces. I’ve stopped taking them to art fairs – as I am reluctant to part with them. I do find putting a price tag on my art so difficult. You can’t calculate the hours of love and frustration that goes into a piece, so a fair price has to be one that fits with your market if you want to sell. If the selling price upsets you the perhaps you’re not quite ready to part with them.

Maybe one day, when I run out of space, (I’m getting close) there will be a need to part with them, and maybe one day someone will offer me a price that will soften the blow, but for now they will remain an inspiration for some of my upcoming pieces. Who knows what we will see next?
