I’ve been lacking in inspiration lately.  It happens sometimes.  Its often if my work life gets busy, or my workspace becomes too cluttered that all I can think about is the need to clear a space rather than running with the spontaneity of creativity.

I also have a million and one beautiful photos to work from and add to my collection daily.  Sorting and choosing a starting point often stops me getting started.  When I’ve had time lately I’ve been working on my more craft projects.  I’ve made a beautiful bag for my stitching projects out of an off-cut of vintage fabric that’s been in my stash for a very long time.

Its jolly – but is NOT art. All pictures & words copyright Carolyn Trafford (2022)

It fulfils my desire to be creative but is not an outlet for my Art.

I’ve been up to the Lakes recently for a week’s walking and wild swimming.  The sense of being in touching distance of the elements has fuelled my desire to create.  I return refreshed, exercised and with a sense of wonder, thrilled by the slight chill of the water and sense of adventure. I feel alive.

At one with nature (albeit damn cold)

It is too soon to see any great masterpieces, but I have discovered the Snapseed App on my phone which is far better for photo editing than Instagram, and I’m learning to play with layers and double exposures which have previously only been possible for me in Adobe Lightroom on my laptop.

I hope you like the results.

The next stage is to perhaps get some printed onto fabric and see where my stitching takes me.  Here’s to another adventure but this time in Art.

Do please leave a comment.  Getting feedback is really important.  It doesn’t matter if you like it or not, but how it makes you feel, what emotions it stirs or whether it takes you to a place far away or long ago.

Back soon….
