I know that I procrastinate, the trouble is I’ve had to find a solution to this. Running a portfolio career is challenging enough. When I get stuck I get stuck, and if I procrastinate in one business it has a knock on effect on the others.
The final straw and realisation was when I had to spend half a day last week just searching for my desk and found paperwork that I really should have dealt with.
Once I considered the challenge, the solution was straight-forward. I have a limited number of hours in the week, so I sectioned my time. Rather than work on 3 businesses at once, I designated how many hours I wanted to spend on each business.
Rather than Mondays being admin day and Tuesdays social media day. Mondays are now days I spend almost exclusively on the Neal’s Yard business and Tuesdays I spend developing Reflections Coaching. The great thing is this is moving me closer to my 4 day weekend as I’ve designated Fridays as a day off or catch up day if I need it.
And the good news? I actually have room for my coffee mug on my desk!!
I’ve talked about compartmentalising stuff before and it does work. Its not a precise science and it has to be flexible to work but why not give it a go.
