I knew it had been a while since I last published a post – it’s only since I sat down at my laptop to write this I realised it’s been about 6 weeks. This started as a weekly blog and I would religiously sit down at my laptop and produce a post so that my readers could see it at the same time every week.
I romantically fantasied about my readers, excitedly grabbing their cuppa and sitting down at exactly the same time to read my posts. Perhaps when blogging was first invented it was a bit like that, it’s just that now we’re inundated with info and I realised a while back that it was more important that I had something interested and relevant to share.
And its been 6 weeks…. and not because I didn’t have anything relevant – more because I’ve been busy with other bits of my business.
So I usually have a moral to my stories and I guess this one is about not being afraid to quit something or change something. We’re so often told that to quit is to fail. My warning is that before you push yourself to your limits trying to do something, to please your audience or to look after your customers, make sure it’s necessary. Consider whether your clients actually want it, and what the consequences of quitting are.
Sometimes it’s OK to quit.
This weeks picture has no relevance to the post, my regular readers will know that I have a love of Cumbria and The lake District here in the UK. You will also know this week it has been hit by terrible floods, not just in a couple of towns – in most of it’s towns, affecting 3 counties.
People will be unable to return home before Christmas and businesses and tourism will suffer having a huge impact on the economy – just 6 years after a similar incident.
Please if you can spare a few pounds to support this cause. I’ve seen a number of funds but this one seems to be the best.
Better still, go and visit them because their industry needs our footfall and our holiday spending money. It’s a beautiful part of the world, even right now.
