The 5th step in this week’s blog series is a reminder that we need to minotor how we’re progressing with our goals and acknowledging that sometimes our plans change and we need to adapt to move forward. It’s also about acknowledging achievement when we get there.

But for now let’s talk about Reviewing:
So by now you’re decided what your goal is, put in some stepping stones, worked out what might challenge you and enlisted some help to keep you focused – wow you really are all set to “Make a Splash!”
There’s still work to be done though and it starts with an acronym RRR.
RECORD
REVIEW
RECOGNISE
Review your progress regularly – Use a diary, calendar or similar system to take the time out to review your progress. It’s all too easy to put all this hard work in defining your goals and staying motivated and then lose the edge because you don’t stay on top of things.
Record what you have achieved – Keep a record somewhere of exactly what you have achieved. Make a note of milestones, big steps and small successes they’re all important.
Recognise your successes – It is very easy to dismiss our achievements. Keep a note of them big and small and remember to give yourself a pat on the back. Reward yourself with some time off or a little chocolate treat. This is another great opportunity to share your success with the people who you told about your goals and on Facebook.
Use your review time for a check if the goal is still relevant. If it isn’t, tweak it, or create a new one, don’t waste your time flogging a dead horse.
What do you need to do to bring yourself back on track? Perhaps revisiting some of the steps in the “Make A splash” workbook would help.
“Shoot for the moon.
Even if you miss it you will land among the stars.”
– Les Brown.
Take 5 minutes to think about your achievements and how you could celebrate with a “Splash”
Celebrating your success is one of the most important steps and perhaps the you are most likely forget to do. Many of us are raised not to be conceited and this can be interpreted as not shouting about our achievements.
Take some time to think about who you are going to share your success with. Hopefully the people that you enlisted to help you with motivation in step 4, perhaps your work colleagues or if you are in business, this could be a great thing to share at networking meetings or in social media.
Maybe you could email me, I love to hear about individual successes. You can email me at Caro@reflectionscoaching.co.uk.
