Its a week today since surgery. It’s been a slow week but at the heart of everything that I am doing is rest and recuperation. Some of that is about being active and its been a beautiful week to get outdoors. Albeit with help to handle the dogs and at a much slower pace. I’ve done my morning dog walk this morning (just short of 3 miles) and its taken its toll. Its only when I consider the distance that I realise that’s a fair walk, because I do it daily it seems like no achievement.
Its really hard to hold myself back but I have to be mindful that I am dosed up with painkillers and that I shouldn’t over do it.
At home I’m turning my mind to creative activities. I am doing a couple of online classes via zoom through the WEA. I am really enjoying my illustrative drawing class. Its a form of doodling/zentangle type of art. Occasionally I get a little frustrated with the “follow me” type teaching, with everyone producing the same work but it is really helping me get control of my pencil/pen and think about how shapes are formed. I feel this is something I’ve always struggled with and wanted to get back to basics. But it is also a beautiful way to switch off and gives me plenty of opportunity to do some colouring in, something I’ve always encouraged with my coaching clients. It’s a fabulous way of becoming centred and grounded.
The paintings that I create outside of the class are of my own design and often feature on my range of greeting and Christmas cards in my online shop.
