The English language is incredibly complicated yet one of our simplest words “No” seems to be one that people sometimes struggle to say. Not because its difficult to pronounce, but because psychologically we don’t like to use it.
Yet just learning to use this little word a bit more often can have a huge impact on our time management, work life balance, confidence etc
So what are the reasons we struggle to say “No”?
- We’re too nice and want to please other people?
- We’re afraid of letting other people down?
Probably!!
However the biggest reason we find saying “No” so hard to do – is we convince ourselves that the other person’s needs are more important than ours – in fact that THEY are more important than US.
Perhaps its time we started to consider our own worth. So next time someone asks you for that little favour,
Stop! Think! and Consider!
What important things for you are you putting off and will they really be upset of you say “No”?
