The 3rd step in this week’s blog series about goal setting is about anticipating challenges. It’s these challenges that stop us achieving our goals and id we’re aware in advance we can plan for them.

We all know that when planning a journey things can go wrong. Imagine booking a holiday abroad. You’ve been planning the trip to your dream destination for 12 months. You’ve planned what you’re taking, you’ve been shopping, and have an up to date passport and currency. What could go wrong?
Quite a lot actually! Anything from losing your passport, being too ill to go, to being delayed and missing your flight. Thankfully it doesn’t happen very often but it can. This is why we take out travel insurance, double check everything and leave a good 2 hours before we need to just in case of motorway delays. It’s second nature to us to take these precautions.
So you need to consider what your potential road blocks could be in planning your personal work/life journey to achieving your goal and ensuring your motivation remains high.
Just like planning for your holiday, overcoming any challenges to your goal is dependent on anticipating what those challenges might be. Just like leaving 2 hours early for the airport, if we know that our goal will be challenged, we can anticipate, plan and overcome.
Record the challenges you anticipate getting in the way of your goals. Then take the time to consider the possible solutions.
