“Stay Safe” – How often have I heard those words over the last few weeks. It now seems to be the new “Goodbye” at the end of every phone conversation.
I always thought that plagues were the things out of history books, spread by rats and brought to an end by huge apocalyptic tragedies that took out half of London in 1666.
Social media is rife with individuals quoting where people should or shouldn’t be walking, or what they should be doing and what their woes are. We all have a different story of how it affects us. For some its financial and for others the social distancing may be causing distress.
Its times like this that I turn to the positives. My personal situation is financial. I’m part time self employed/employed, hubby is full time self employed. His work has dried up completely – and we wont see the self employed grant for 3 months. All we can do is get rid of non essential expenditure, we have no control over anything else – so there is no point worrying about it.
Here’s some of my positives. I’d love to hear yours so please leave a comment – it’ll help others:
- I still have 2.5 days paid employed work. I can do this from home so don’t need to use my car. This saves me over 2 hours a week in travel. This, I am taking as me time.
- I was fortunate to have a week away with friends to celebrate my big birthday, in the week running up to the lockdown. I have happy memories, some books that came as gifts and some great photos.
- I am healthy and strong. I’ve had a cough, who knows whether it was the virus or not. Although I am now in a higher risk category given my change of age 😉
- We have been able to take one car off the road, thereby saving the road tax.
- As I’m staying in, I’m not spending much and can just get on with art and crafting instead.
Do please share your positives, and of course stay safe.
