Last Month I talked about resilience – it seems that we all need an extra dose of this at the moment. The ability to bounce back keeps us moving forward despite the additional challenges we are all facing.
So my blog post ‘What Is Resilience and How Do I Achieve It?‘ explains what resilience is and I share 3 top tips for harnessing it. Here’s 3 more:
Positive Focus.
Not to be mistaken for “looking on the bright side”, it is more about understanding what your strengths are. Yes we all have weaknesses so don’t focus on them, turn to your strengths and work around the problem instead.
Friendship
This one is extremely important to me. Friendships are things to be nurtured. They are two-way streets. Friendship can provide endless support or simply a listening ear. But remember to give as much as you get, if not more and if someone isn’t their for you when you need them, they may just need help themselves.
Physical exercise & Being Outdoors.
Physical exercise isn’t just about taking advantage of an hour’s mandated exercise. It’s amazing how much an hour’s exercise can increase your ability to copy mentally too. Exercise provides endorphins resulting in an increase in resilience. It’s great if you can get your exercise outdoors and I do endorse all exercise is good for your mind, but if you’re stuck indoors do try and grab some outdoor time too, even if you stand under an umbrella for 5 minutes to breathe the air.
I understand things are tough for everyone now. I am still offering coaching, via Zoom or telephone and we can focus on confidence building or resilience. I have also added my book, “Don’t Just Dream It – Achieve It!” to my online shop. It is a fantastic resource and will support a coaching programme or can be used on its own to help work through goal setting, confidence and in turn to build resilience.
