I love cake! I have a sweet tooth and an hourglass figure (prone to weight on the hips). I was probably 14 when I went on my first diet. I’d watched Mum conscientiously record her calories and was fed up with being one of the plumpest kids in school. Coupled with my natural ability to run – NOT! – I used to get quite a lot of teasing.
So having spent a summer eating salads for lunch and replacing my beloved chocolate with an apple I experienced success, returning to school the same weight but taller and slimmer, proving that anything is possible when you want it enough.
Dieting can be difficult – denial is an ugly word. I prefer to exercise regularly and can control my weight if I cut out lots of snacking. If I want cake I have it – I just have to do an extra gym session or cut down on my calories elsewhere.
I have tried fat club diets but they did not take account of the amount of exercise I did and I think I was gradually slowing down my metabolism. I got to my goal eventually, but maintaining it was tricky.
Sometimes I have controlled my weight and sometimes it controlled me. Most recently, I have been in control and have just lost 16lb; tapping into a group of like-minded people gave me the accountability I needed. As a coach, I know what a difference this element makes.
The times I have been the one in control have had three things in common:
- Goals
- Accountability
- Motivation
When these three elements come into play it will feel like nothing can stand in your way and they can be applied to any goal you want to achieve.
For my current goal, I am working my way towards the Astound Exhibition – it marks the end of my foundation degree and I know I want to look and feel great.
Astound will be on at the Nicholson Gallery from the 1st June to 22nd June.
Creative Freedom is a fabulous way of focusing on your goals, whatever they may be. If you want to lose weight or have a goal you have yet to achieve then Contact Carolyn today on 07714 216388 to claim your free taster session.
